Finding Beauty In An Ugly Place

Maybe ‘Stepping out of the box’ wouldn’t be appropriate.

Latn Black

I have seen lensmasters take the SquidWho template and produce  lenses that looked like they literally spent no more than the 5 minutes to build a lens that used to be touted on Squidoo’s homepage. These lenses were nothing more than content in a box.  Shameful.

Every once in a great blue moon I’ll run across one that is filled with excitingly fresh and NOT copy/paste or Wikipedia nonsense. Brand spanking new lensmaster LaraB has built one heck of a SquidWho for her initial lens. She stripped some of the generic modules and added one or two from the arsenal to create a great tribute to unheard of Rap producer/performer Latn Black.

With talent like LaraB singing his praises, Latn Black won’t be unheard of for very long.

Zhongguo Through The Eyes Of An Artist

It’s late a Sunday night. All day the weather has been unusually oppressive. I mean, it is April and it is Ohio, but mid to upper eighties and humid? Anyway, the sun set just as a cold front assaulted the area. Temperatures drop and rain begins playing its tune on the asphalt street outside your office window.

As the rain builds into a mighty crescendo, the the last of the season’s cabin fever takes hold. I need to travel, but I am stuck. I need to go somewhere now. Right now.

Then I stumbled onto something. I fell across a magic adventure that found me riding a crowded train east. East from the extreme western reaches of China into the interior known as the Middle Kingdom. The salt of the earth people, the cuisine, music, and scenes of natural beauty are making it hard to leave Zhongguo.

Lensmaster solowriter takes us into the Middle Kingdom by allowing us to look at her journal and to see the country through her wonderfully artistic eye.

Take the trip, you won’t regret it.

The Twilight Zone

Maybe the most famous theme music in television history. Possibly the best written series in television history. Definitely engaging and entertaining, the Twilight Zone left a mark on entertainment that will never be erased.

Lensmaster MobyD gives an in depth look at the show that featured science fiction/fantasy/horror stories that were steeped in social commentary.  His excellent tribute to the series includes a the original series as well as the later revivals.

This is must see t.v.

Oodles Of Doodles

When I was a child, my mother would doodle the hours away, drawing mostly people and floor plans. She would doodle up the most most beautiful people, and toss the drawings only to start a new batch the next day.

Lensmaster MeltedRachel displays some amazing doodles and accompanying artwork in her very entertaining lens Melted Doodles.  Take a look at at what coolness can be the product of aimless drawing.

Enjoy!

Stuffed Cabbage

Some people would tell you that the time for eating cabbage rolls is over until autumn fires back up, but I’ll eat cabbage rolls anytime I get near them. And let me tell ya, this Stuffed Cabbage lens by the awe-inspiring lensmaster JaguireJulie waters my mouth every time I visit it.

Oh yeah, one othe little thing about this lens, no big deal really….It’s the NUMBER ONE lens at Squidoo!

Hats Off Julie!

Critiques: How Well Do You Give And Recieve?

Lensmaster Victoria_Neely lays out the good stuff when it comes to critiquing in the Squidoo Critique Me section of the SquidU forum.

Her lens Lens Critiques: Giving and Receiving Critiques on the SquidU Forum warns against the pitfalls of haphazard submission and critiquing. The pointers include a “you shouldn’t submit if your feelings get hurt easily” piece of advice as well as as a “be honest but diplomatic” tip for reviewers.

If everyone would read study this lens before entering the Critique Me area, reviews would be constructive and Squidoo would benefit overall.

Enjoy!

Tipi

Lensmaster Tipigal is one one those folks that are of the purest of hearts and hardest of workers. Everyone who knows her, knows kindness of unfathomable depths. Strength and courage are huge in her life as well, as shown during the Red River flooding, near her home,  earlier this spring.

A wonderful way to get to know her is by starting at her lensography and then traveling along with her to many of her cool lenses.

Enjoy!
